Royal Wulff Dry FlyÂ
The original idea for hair wing patterns came about in the 1920’s in several locations simultaneously. In the late 20’s Lee Wulff specifically looked to upgrade a Royal Coachman fan wing with hair wings and tail. Right up there with the Adams, the Royal Wulff is one of the most well-known dry flies of all time. Considered “strawberries and cream” by trout, don’t be afraid to feed them desert any time of day. This is one of the most recognized dry flies of all time and one that personifies the category of ‘classic’.Â
